2013 vs 2015 models?

Anyone have any experience between the years? I know these years were the new mid-cycle refresh models but were there more kinks in 2013 than say 2015?

I can chime in.

The 2013 had an extra 12 volt outlet in the trunk whereas my 2015 does not. If your fuel light comes on, the 2015 will alert you in navigation (if equipped) to nearby petrol stations (which is kind of annoying to me). The engine on the 2013 has minor issue on ignition regarding noise; I remedied it with a higher oil fill closer to max capacity but there is also a check valve part you can install.

It is all minor stuff. I would rather take a highly optioned 2013 than a base model 2015.

Dang you are not making it easier on me LOL. I am looking at a 2013 which is 4K cheaper and has an AMG package.

Well what options do you desire? Do you care about cosmetic condition?

I personally wouldn't buy a GLK without the bi-xenon headlights.

I am actually pretty open because anything at this point is an upgrade for my wife compared to her Honda Cr-V. I am just concerned about reliability (relatively) and given the 2013 was the first year of the refresh. I wasn't sure it would have more kinks than the later model which by your experience seems tolerable.

2013 I am looking at has slightly more miles, more optioned and cheaper vs the 2015 that is pretty much base (except has panoroof which I can live without).

Maintenance wise, you should get the car inspected before you buy. Many of the rubber items are likely due for replacement, especially on the 2013. The transmission is another area of concern, see if they had the fluids changed.

MB’s of all kinds.
2015 Is the last year. I have the 2015 and I am very happy with it. Solid little SUV. They feel so much more solid compared to the CRV or basically anything else. My sister in law has a Maurano and it is huge but lacks in quality.

2013's also had a headlamp washer, 2014 and onwards deletes this feature. There was also some problem that 2013's had that I can't seem to recall that was not a problem in later years. I know that will be of no help, but I'll try (and you should also) to do some digging on the forums.

did the bi-xenon headlights feature an adaptive corner adjusting feature for turns on the road and the halogens did not?

2013 was first year of mid-life refresh. I'm not a fan of the styling and like my older boxy look, but that's subjective. Biggest changes in 2013 were going to DFI motor and updated transmission. DFI motor added a bit more power, but time will tell what happens to those valves with cabon build up. I have 2010 since new, almost 11 year and 100k miles.

NYCGLK, question about NYC tristate area MB dealerships: If you had no other choice but to use a dealership for service, which one in the area would you go to?

I used to take my car to Benzel Busch. After they could not figure which light bulb was out, I stopped bothering and do my own work, which on this car is really minimal. Oil change once or twice a year and front rotors that keep warping.
But if you really can't do you own stuff, I would recommend an indy shop near by that you feel good about like Russ's Wrench https://www.russellswrench.com/ I took my LX570 there when hydraulic line rusted through and burst. They figured out what part failed, ordered it and fixed it, just like the dealership would.
Truth is, maintenance on GLK is as easy as on any other car, actually easier than on my Lexus. Whoever does it, just needs to do it right, but it's pretty basic stuff.
