my head unit fried the other day.. I've looked at many options but there are so many variations I don't know what HW and SW I should be comparing for compatibility. I have a 6 disc changer, Navigation, blue tooth, satellite in mine. My part number is A2049007002 as given to me according to my VIN at the Mercedes Dealer. However the unit from my vehicle has a product number of A2049006002. The whole "may have to decode" issue has me a bit.nervous. My dealer said they can try to do it but there is no guarantee of success as they don't use code lock security any more. Any thoughts or somewhere I can compare. Ideally I could find a unit that has the media interface module with it as mine only has the 3.5 mm plug in the glove box. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Dave C, RI

A dealer will probably be around 1000$, try Ebay , you should find what you need for a few hundred

The dealer gave me the I'd number. If I buy it through them it is $1400.00. For that price I'll serenade myself, Acapella style.

I’m sure on eBay you can get one on eBay with a return guarantee for 200$, you probably could upgrade to a 2013-15 unit . I’d be suprised if the harness changed .

I appreciate the replies. But it's not simply about where. I didn't word my question right. They are all over eBay for sure. But there is only 1 with my part# and it"s more than I want to spend. My primary question is how do I go about sorting out which other I'd #s would work with my vehicle without reprogramming it to my car. Yes, I'd love to upgrade it some, but I don't know what hw or sw I need to stay with for compatibility with my car.

From what I’ve been told from a friend that’s works on mb, If it was new it would need to be programmed, the only thing I can think is to pull it out to compare connections
