Nox headache again
greetings from Langley bc
so the check light came on last Wednesday.
No problem i thought.
I was able to get access to autel maxisys scanner (original verdion with no maxiflash adapter just regular wireless breakout dongle)
Scan the codes p229fe
Thursday i swapped the sensor with a used one from wreckers.
Still no go.
At this point started scratching my head.
ok i thought maybe defective so on Friday i get a second one.
Both new used sensors in the car.
Started monitoring live data.
Both of them started showing readonable readings( more on the front than rear and somewhere in 200-400range).
Engine check light still on.
At this point i gound out that scn coding needs to happen,
However cannot do it without the maxiflash dongle on maxisys.
Another observation i made is that altough nox sensors take few minutes from cold start to come alive, which is normal, the rear sensor takes about 2-4 minutes longer to activate.
Is this normal?
In the meantime i found out about nox q numbers.
supposedly you can mix q1-q2 and q3-q5 within their group only.
also egt sensors are responsible for activation of nox sensors in order to prevent to early activation.
Sunday i had to return the naxisys to the shop so i bought autel ap200.
reads the same live data as maxisys
Under eobd menu access the onboard diagnostics then benz then this
Exhsust temperature sensor failed one of the parameters
( which one what does it mean?)
Am i correct in thinking that this one is the one that activates the nox sensors?
Both of them?
Rear only?
At this point i am leaning heavily towards full delete rather than fixing the system.
To summarize .
Is there any validity to matching the q numbers on nox sensors
Which egt/egts are responsible for what in scr system
Is it possible to adapt a used nox sensor(one shop told me no)
if so who locally to me has xentry on laptop that could help
If it turns out that a faulty egt is all i need i would buy it but if nox have to be changed than i probably go with Sam's delete combo
Feal free to chime in.
Piotr
