Up for sale locally to me is a genuine Mercedes roof box and bars. Asking $800 cad. Seller is open to offers. Box is the 450xl version.
obviousky need bars for the box so this would be a nice combo for the win. However, google is not returning any results regarding if the roof rack bars from gle would fit glk. See pic below.
1) would they be the same width? (asked seller to measure
2) is the anchor system the same? (does the gle have the same raised rail shape)
3) if too wide but otherwise right fit could they be modified with ease (cut to length)?
I can swap my aftermarket bars from the GLK to the GLS, but the width is different, so unless they're adjustable for width, it won't work. IIRC, the GLS is about 4 inches wider.
@John CC cheers. So what your saying is the clamp mechanism / shape of car rails that t is being clamped to is consistent, so long as the width works (or can be changed) I’m in business?
Well that shows promise. And makes sense from an engineering/cost perspective, making everything bespoke is not the best approach. Appreciate the insight.
