Safety issue, Driver side mirror folding outwards and won’t restore back to home
Good day guys! Hope everyone is well. Having an issue with my driver side mirror.I accidentally hit the folding mirror button in the middle on the door panel and now driver side won’t restore back to home position and faces outward. The passenger side is fine.
Has anyone come across this? Is there a way to reset power folding mirrors? Or can I manually adjust it back without breaking the motor?
I'm pretty sure you can manually push it back into place. It's happened to me before as well, but I don't have power folding mirrors.
Make sure the mirrors are set to the normal position (not folded) and just lean on the mirror that's pushed too far forward. It will "pop" back into place. Then test folding function a couple times.
I just tested on mine, folds by hand in both directions. You can pop it back into its normal position without breaking the linkage to the electric motor inside. MB has this feature as a fail safe - in case your electric motor fails when mirrors are folded, you still have the opportunity to drive vehicle by manually unfolding them.

Whether external mirrors have motorized folding or not they must all be able to fold to the side. This is mainly for the purpose of protecting pedestrians, as much as possible, in the event they are struck by the mirror. It's not, specifically, an M-B thing.
