Intermittent heating/cooling fan
Any thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks. Chad
I rinsed the motor in alcohol and also found an inductor nearly touching the metal frame (bent it over so slightly to move it out of the way). No need to remove the fan from the motor. There was a lot of carbon dust from the motor brushes packed between the inductor and the metal frame. Wondering if there was a slight electrical short circuit through the carbon blob causing it to fail. You also might use compressed air to blow it out, but the dirt will go EVERYWHERE. If rinsing with alcohol, make sure to let it all evaporate and dry. I blew the alcohol out and then dried mine in the sun for an hour. No one needs an electrical fire.
It takes a bit of standing on your head with the seat moved fully back to do this job. The dealer rep said they get the smallest guy in the shop to do it.
Mine still works well after two seasons, but was a bugger to reinstall. Main side benefit is I learned how to stand on my head in the car
