Hello, i replaced the the fuel pump and also the fuel filter/sending unit with new ones. However after replacing the SUV seems to be turning off at a quarter of a tank. Upon inspection it seems the side of the fuel pump passenger side didn't have any gas, however the side of the fuel filter on driver's side did have gas. Does anyone know what would be causing this? 2011 glk 350 with 118k miles
Venturi pressure differential pump and the return line to which it connects. Works off of fluid flow. Transfers fuel from filter/regulator side of the tank (driver's side) to the passenger side of the tank. Possible you didn't pull the return line over.
E55 system diagram inserted for informational purposes. It has two return lines; one from the pressure regulator that returns a small amount of fuel and the other return line that bypasses a large amount of fuel before the filter and returns that fuel to the passenger side. The second line passes through a "venturi pressure pump" that siphons fuel from the driver's side tank and returns that fuel to the passenger side tank. Your setup may vary.
Thank you for your response. Previously I only had the old filter but a new pump and it worked fine. This started with the new filter. I'm wondering if the new filter has something that is not working properly as the lines are all connected. I will take a second look and check to see that the line with the clip that comes.from the filter is connected properly and it clicked. I'll double check the lines. If there is a problem with the filter what would it be? I still have the old filter and it works fine just wanted the new one since i put in a new pump

The line that comes from the sending unit with the connector to the pump reaches great. The other line that is just open and connects to the pump on the top side is way too short and it bends once you settle the assembly down. Why is that line too short and hard to reach the pump on the passenger side?
