GLK250 2014 (Service A) - can I skip it?
Hi,
I have GLK250 2014 and I am due for Service A 5.
Can I skip it?
I drove a mere 4000KM (3000 Miles). I am certain I have enough urea (or the computer will tell me).
I am travelling a lot and I keep my car in the garage, so I have not been driving much lately.
Please let me know your thoughts on this matter.
Can I simply skip it, reset the computer and do Service B next year?
Thanks a lot for your help
Ilia

If your car is telling you to service it I would listen. Maybe a full Service A is not necessary but I would definitely change the oil & filter. Simply resetting and moving on is a poor option IMO.

Occasional use and short trips are harder on the vehicle than constant highway speed driving. Contaminants build up in the engine oil and other lubricants begin to harden, the battery doesn’t get fully charged and sits around sulfating the plates.
Some Service A components are time related and others are mileage. You probably don’t need engine and cabin air filters, wiper blades. But definitely change the oil and filter. The brake fluid should be changed every 2 years. And definitely check the electrical condition of the battery.
Check the condition and age of the tires, too. On a vehicle that doesn’t get driven much, the tires can begin to get age cracks in the sidewalls. Tires over six years old should be replaced regardless of tread depth. Aging tires may not be able to safely handle road irregularities at higher speeds.
Happy Motoring! [or something like that]
