‘15 GLK 250 Bluetec Emergency Brake Light
When I turn on the car, the “Release Brake” warning comes up except the brake was not set. It happens occasionally. Dealer tech said “that’s normal for this car.” Really?
So gents, is this normal when owning an MB?

We have a 2014 Base model. I notice, mostly in winter time (which is rare here in south central Texas), the light stays illuminated, even after I pull the release lever. (always set the e-brake pedal for safety reasons).
However, if I set my foot behind the e-brake pedal while pulling the Release handle, I noticed the pedal moves up, more slightly, then the message disappears. No doubt an adjustment can fix it, but too lazy - easy enough to fix with my foot pull up.

Sprayed the mechanism on mine with white silicone grease. It took about 2 minutes. The message went away and never returned.
This can happen to any car, but you shouldn’t be treated this way by any dealer who thinks you, or anyone you know, might want to ever deal with them. Without naming names, was this the MB dealership in Katy?

Spraying silicone is good idea to make the pedal return. What if you hadn’t pressed it and the message lights up?

It happens on mine intermittently. Every time, another slight tug on the E-brake release resets the light. I might try to shoot a little lube on the suspect components to see if it will prevent it in the future, but honestly it's just not something I've thought about when I'm looking for things to fix / worry about. ;-)

Never had that happen, but there has to be a sensor somewhere on that mechanism. It must be adjusted just a little too close. This is NOT something you want to spend money at a dealer on. Let me look/ask around.
