Engine Oil Dipstick Tube Leaking
I changed my engine oil yesterday in my 2010 GLK350 Base model, and while under there I noticed some residual oil around the place the dipstick tube goes into the block right above the oil drain plug. I'm assuming there is a seal there that needs to be replaced (there are about 146k miles on the car). I've never had to change one of these out before. I assumed, because of its location, I would have to drain the engine oil before I pull the tube out. But on youtube I see that in other vehicles, you can pop it out without needing to remove any oil. I'd rather not be surprised by a face full of engine oil. Have any of you had to replace this seal before?
TIA

The Jeep has an eyelet (near the top of the tube), where a single bolt attaches to the side of the cylinder head (it's a straight 6-cylinder). Remove that bolt and simply pull up on the tube and it slides right out of the cylinder block (it slides into the block about an inch). For the Jeep, there is no gasket/ seal. I was a bit surprised.
I would do two things:
a) Completely clean the area of the oil residue (spray an engine degreaser, then hose off?). Then examine it from time to time after driving it and check for new residue.
b) if you're convinced that's where it's leaking, or if new residue shows it's at the dipstick tube base, check a parts fiche diagram to see if there's a seal. Or maybe call a dealer's parts department.

Yes, I use FCP Euro for all of my Benz and BMW shopping! I just bought a set of spark plugs and coils from them this morning. They don't seem to have one of those for my model year, though. I appreciate you digging into it!
