Odd high rpm sound after startup

Okay, maybe I'm losing it, since I retired 3 years ago.

I got in our 2014 GLK Base this morning and drove to grocery store, then to Wally World. Each trip took 10 min drive to each store, then drove back home. Parked her in the garage as usual.

An hour later, I realized I forgot to get fertilizer (I think I mentioned I retired), so opened garage and sat in GLK and started it up.

After about 30 seconds, I thought the engine automagically revved up for some odd reason on its own. But I looked at the dash ... no, engine at typical RPM at warm-up. So I opened hood to check ... could not identify where the "revvs" were coming from. A/C ?? Turned it off, no change.

I'm perplexed... maybe next time I run an errand I'll record it all.

Any thoughts??

Maybe you heard the fans kicking on high (windows open?). The secondary air pump (the big cylinder hanging off the front of the engine) can get noisy, too (especially when there's a problem with it).

Thanks @habbyguy and @John CC ... it is soooo strange the electric radiator fans NEVER occurred to me when it was happening ... maybe because I was home from the 1st trip for a while, before I left for the 2nd trip.

Oddly enough, I woke up at 4am this morning for no apparent reason, and the first thought that popped up was, "radiator fans". I don't get it. I think I mentioned I retired 3 years ago ... maybe I should get a job cause my brain is going mushy !

A joke comes to mind, but I would probably get censured...
