Mercedes GLK 250 Bluetec (2014)
Car Scanner App

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone here uses the OBDII Car Scanner Phone App to check their vehicle? If so, can anyone help me with a profile? I have a Glk 2014 Bluetec 4matic, but this model is not specified in their profiles. Is it safe to use the profile for the E model or glk 220 cdi instead? Attached you will find a list of profiles availabe in the app. I wrote to the developer of the app but so far no response. Thanks in advance to all.

Default profiles within the app

I'd try W204 250CDI. What do you have to loose?

What OBDII dongle do you use? It might be compatible with other apps that recognize the vehicle based on the VIN.

Hello andre, thanks for the reply. I’m using one of them chinese Elm327 dongles. It seems to work fine with the 2nd option “OBD-II / EOBD + AT (CAN)

Modern Mercedes-Benz with automatic transmission” and with E250 bluetec diesel 2014 but i don’t know which is more appropriate. Thanks again.

You could try the modern MB option and see what it communicates with, or there are a few free apps that also work with the Elm327 dongle that you could also try to see if they're more functional:
  • Carly
  • OBDEleven
  • Car Scanner ELM
I'd download them and see which one works better.

Ultimately, what are you trying to achieve exactly? Read fault codes and reset CELs or something more complicated like forcing DPF regens and the like?

Thank you for the quick reply andre, currently i’m using the paid version of Car scanner ELM. I intend to use it just for reading fault codes and clearing CELs, so i’m not trying to achieve anything specific. I wouldn’t dream of doing complicated stuff with cheap hardware, just wanted to know if any1 was using this app so I could get advice about setting it up with the correct profile, how to see the frequency of regens in terms of time or km etc.

Not all apps and dongles are able to read modern Euro OBDII vehicles reliably, that's why I was asking about the app you're using and what you're trying to achieve.

You can try the modern MB profile or see if the E250 Bluetec one works better for specific emissions items, since the engine, emissions system and ECU used in the GLK and E-class Bluetec are basically the same.

Good luck.
