Did this transmission mount replacement with 212-240-10-18. The new mount has significantly more rubber. Relatively easy repair with only five bolt to mess with. You will need both a 16mm hex and E12 Torx socket.
I recently requested quotes from 2 local independent mechanics in Vancouver, BC, to replace the engine mounts and transmission mount. Both quoted $1,700 in labor and would not do it unless I purchased the mounts from them -- at a much higher price than what is available from FCP Euro. Are others finding this to be similar to their costs to replace them?
If your vehicle is a 4Matic, that's probably what you're going to pay. If it's a RWD, it's kind of highway robbery. HUGE difference in the labor involved in the two. 4Matic, the axles and exhaust comes out, to start with...
Sounds about right, especially since you have 4matic. Best to learn the process yourself. I helped another forum member here in Los Angeles with the mount replacement and they were pretty surprised how easy it is.
