Stock stereo speaker upgrades?
Stock stereo speaker upgrades?
I'm thinking of upgrading the stock speakers in my 2014 GLK. Has anyone had this done? What speakers did you choose, and what did it cost?
The stock system isn't bad, until I compare it to the 10-speaker Sony system in my Ford. I don't want to go nuts on this project. I don't need subwoofers and gobs of volume. I would like to hear bass that's better controlled, more precise and less flabby. A little treble boost would be welcome to my aging ears, too. The COMAND unit is fine, and wonderfully flexible. I'm still loading favorite CDs into the Music Register, six at a time.

I put in everything years 8 ago spent 3000. Hertz 165 xl for 5-600 a pair not including installation . I am now replacing at least front speakers as they were never warm. The sound is boomy bass because you need door sound deadening . If you like ford sound get same brand ! Or go listen to some. Some are warm for all around music many are very bright for modern loud music . I don’t know what I’m getting yet. YouTube and read speaker comparisons. But doors need deadening .
The type of music and volume level is important . Mine sounded good loud . I’m to old for that all the time . They sound like crap with a lot of older music at low volume . Ford might be good . Find out what brand they use . They don’t make them .
