Satellite Radio Repair

Hi,

I ordered a used SDAR unit because the Sirius radio is inconsistent to not working at all. I would like to know if there is any DIY instructions on how to replace the SDAR unit for a DIY. I have a few additional questions:

1). Will I have to involve a dealership to get the replacement SDAR unit working?
2). Where exactly is the SDAR unit located in a 2010 GLK350?
3). What else should I investigate while I have things "apart?"

TIA

What year ? Is your mb cell system working like the emergency call ? Why not use your phone to connect . Sirius has the lowest bandwidth that gives the lowest sound quality. Your phone will do it better . My 13 is one of the models MB stopped cell service for . No emergency help ! Mb cheap asses ! Maybe that is the issue you have ? A lot of modules are were the auxiliary battery is behind the rear seat under a panel . Look for a bad or loose connection. Sirius is obsolete due to poor quality of transmission that gives crappy sound for music . For voice it’s ok, but not quality music .

2010 GLK350 4Matic; cell works fine, am/fm work fine. Sirius went from intermittent to "nothing". I will check the auxiliary battery. I was told it had nothing to do with the SDAR and satellite services. It looks like the aux battery is the original.....

There are a few modules in the area of the auxiliary battery , maybe there is a loose or bad connection. The auxiliary battery should say on the dashboard if it’s bad , but test it. In the right fender is another module, I don’t know what any are. There should be a diagram online somewhere, look on eBay to see if any are for sale, they should show a picture then you know what to look for and check .

Thanks for the recommendation. I have yet to find a diagram of where to remote the SDAR unit. I ordered a spare and have it in hand....I will look on eBay.
