FYI-The Prefuse box isn’t really sealed and there’s only one electronic component in it that could shut the car down then reset. Everything else is a fuse. There’s no board. Maybe they were talking about the front SAM(?).
They definitely admitted they could not find the cause and said there was no "test" they could do on the prefuse unit. It does sound like the Prefuse as the cause magically went away 6 hrs later and never returned. (as per a reset? as you mentioned) If it happens again I will get it replaced. Let just hope if it does happen while i am not doing 120kph on the highway.
I don't remember them saying the term SAM.

Thanks for chiming in!

Had you ever driven thru a heavy downpour (rain), or thru some water-flooded roads, or similar conditions??

It seems those who have experienced this similar issue is because of that. Once all the invaded moisture dries up, the issue disappears.

And yea, thanks for the follow-up reply

I wouldn’t be afraid of it happening with the engine running. If it was the prefuse box, then it was the quiescent current relay, whose job is to make sure there is cranking power available when the engine is off and accessories are on and it doesn’t have a memory.

The situation @calder-cay describes is usually the front SAM.

It was raining that morning but not super hard and i had not driven through any puddles. That does sound suspicious though!

Thanks

I have a feeling it did have something to do with the ECO mode. The engine had just shut off. I can't remember if i had just started to lift my foot off the break or not. But i remember sitting their quietly (no engine) and then all of a sudden the lights went off.

Thanks for the positive message about it not happening when the engine is running!
