2010 Mercedes glk 350 engine stalling after filling with gas
Hello, I had this problem a few months back where when I would get gas, the engine would stall or would not go into gear. I had to put my foot on the gas pedal to get it to release the vapors and what not for it to start. But it would only happen when I got gas and after driving for a bit would go away. I replaced the purge valve and the issue went away, but the check engine light was still there pulling in code PO455 and PO497. It had a service done, and I asked them to check it out to which they told me. The code would most likely be pulled because I got the purge valve from AutoZone and not directly from Mercedes so it might be slightly off and the computer is finicky and will pull the code even though the purge valve is working fine. Just recently, it started doing that again But it’s only been five months since I put this purge valve in. It was about 60 or so dollars but based off of the reviews, it seemed to be a decent part and I was unsure if it would crap out on me after five months. I’m not sure how to test it either or if anyone knows of other causes for this issue. I thought about buying a new purge valve when I need to get gas putting it in and seeing if that change things and then I would know if it was the purge valve or not and if it wasn’t, I could just return it.It seems to be a common issue among this year and model that I’ve seen, and I’ve seen varying answers either related to the purge valve, charcoal canister, or fuel injectors. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I would like to not be nervous when I go to get gas.
Hi There, I had this exact issue, its due to fuel pressure vapour build up in the tank that is completely normal..
what happens is the purge solenoid or vent valve soleniod is the fix.
I did the purge valve that worked for me.
I never went to the stealership... has been workign fine. don the charcaol cannister or fuel injectors.. unless you get an CEL for injector related issues.
order the purve valve and google how to install it (pelican parts.com for how to install purve solenoid.) its easily accessible and much cheaper than the stealership. read part description in dropdown menu..
I did replace the purge valve last October it just seems strange that it would go bad only after 10 months of use.
