I have a 2009 GLK 220 CDI that have some serious electrical problem...occasionally.
Sometimes when idling (only times it has happened so far) everything electrical loses its mind. I get a red battery-light in the dash, the engine loses power, when I try to drive away the gearbox is real jerky, the power steering goes away and the headlights become weak. Everytime I begin to crawl home with it second gear after some kilometers driving something happens and everything comes back/lights up to normal and it is fully functioning for another month or two with no problems or fault codes. I have losened all the ground-points I could find i the engine bay area and fastened again and thought I got it right but no... It reapperad once again with the same symptoms. Once when this happened I turned it off immideately and waited a minute or two and tried starting it again. The crank didnt even turn 1 round despite the battery should have been full. The battery is around two years old. Any suggestions where to start ?
Regards
Have you checked the battery terminal voltage while the engine is running? Normal charging voltage should be about 14.5 volts +/-. If you're sure the battery is OK (you can get it checked free at most auto stores), then your alternator/regulator could be at fault.
Is it a AGM or regular battery , non AGM will corrode the terminals in a year requiring removal of cables and cleaning connections. What’s voltage ? What is voltage went someone else cranks starter ?
an Ancel BM 200 for 25$ is a great add on for anyone , it will show you most everything on the phone app
Yes... The generator works... at least when it runs good for a month.. no problem to start, over 14V. The main issue is that it seems to loose all Voltage in an instant which blacks out the car more or less... After I have been driving for 1-3 kilometers it snaps back on like nothing never happened.

This could be a failing battery monitor/sensor. On the X204 I think it is on the negative (earth/ground) battery cable.
Have you scanned to see if there are any stored trouble codes?
With the Ancel bm200 you will see constant charge voltage and battery state of charge and battery voltage at the same time . It might give advance notice of what’s about to happen . It could be alot of things . How many miles ? Check the plug connection to the cam adjusters for oil in the harness . I have it at 90000m it can and will ruin the computer . It’s a common mb issue on high mile mb .
