GLK problems in Europe

Do you know about the problems with the diesel engine 220CDI in Europe ? As the diesel is still much cheaper in Europe than gasoline many of the GLK's that have been sold are 6 cilinder 350CDI but also, since april the 4 cilinder 220CDI with 170 HP. I'am daily on the German forum and read that there are some people with 8000 till 14000 km on the counter habe big problems! The engine makes a lot of trouble, has no force any more and also the orange light on the dash is on saying : Engine failure.
The cars of those people are now at the dealer for a couple of days and the fault is: broken injector. As the problem is well known at MB the injectors are out of stock. They have the same problems with that engine in the new E-class.
For more details : site: Motor Talk.de - forum - mercedes - glk - totallausfal 220CDI .

Thanks for the heads-up. Went to the site and read some of the posts about the small diesel, not good news.

OTOH, I would assume any diesel GLK which makes its way to the USA (2011 model year maybe?) will be the 350 BlueTEC since it's in the GL which is assembled in America, and what will go in the 2010 diesel E-Class which is due in the USA the first quarter of 2010. It's quite expensive to get an engine certified by our EPA mafia so I can't see M-B doing it for two auto diesels.

Luckily, nothing seems out of the ordinary for the 50-state-legal 350 BlueTEC...the proven 2987 cc V-6 with urea injection. Now maybe you can tell me how M-B came up with "350" since it's still the old 3 liter diesel block.

hahah rounding...just like S/CL600 use 5.5 liter or or BMW 335 and 328 use 3 liter...hahah

I thought US diesels are also not that reliable, but I have no facts to back up, I guess can check GL/ML Diesel forum for that.
