Xpel Headlight Protectors Installed -- Photos

Here are some photos of my installation process on the GLK. I've installed these thick protectors on at least 6 automobiles and highly recommend them. I order from Autosport (http://www.autosportcatalog.com) for $45 plus $10 shipping, but they were actually shipped from Xpel in San Antonio, TX. (Xpel sell these directly from their site for more money!)

I'd show a "before" and "after" photo, but really, these would look exactly the same 'cause it is nearly impossible to see that these are installed. So the 1st photo is of the items as shipped (the left and right pieces are placed back-to-back to protect the plastic during shipping.) The 2nd photo is taken during the installation when there are ripples in the plastic which have to be massaged smooth. A hair dryer for heat and patience are essential. But the material is similar to shrink wrap and eventually will conform to the curved surfaces of the lenses. I had a small amount of extra plastic extending above the top edge of the lenses which I trimmed with a razor blade as shown.

If you are at all concerned about stone chips or pock marks on the lenses, this is very cheap insurance. I've also ordered film for the hood and front bumper and will post photos of this process.

2010 GLK 350 Sandstone Beige
I had autoanything (Sdiego) send me a sample of X-pel and it feels very flexible yet sturdy. I might consider it now after seeing an application.

They do but I'm not sure I would want one on my windshield.

slk55er, seems the patience always pays off and wins.
Have you got a chance to do the hood? bumper?
Would like to know if this area is really a DIY as oppose to the dealer looking for a lot of $$$
