Yeah, there are pics of this dash all over the web. Those above seem to work for the SL but something doesn't look right with the GLS pics with this dash.
I noticed on the UK site MB is offering a new Brown Eucalyptus Wood trim:
Thanks for posting that. I want designo but white is a no go (kids will murder it) and have been struggling with what wood to pair with the brown. That seems to work better than the open pore, etc.
This is a UK build so we'll probably have more interior options in the US. I would think a black designo option for sure. I'll likely order the brown leather with the Brown Eucalyptus Wood, if available.
Do any of you know if the GLS will get the grain leather (non-Designo) or a smoother, softer leather for the US? No more grained leather. I noticed the LA Auto Show photos of the GLS550 show the same stitching/form factor for the seats that you find in the US '16 models, but it's a smooth leather, not the grain we currently have with non-Designo configurations. Or is this just a EU spec and this sort of leather will not be available for the US unless you order Designo?
Based on the other countries build configurators (which have been live for a couple weeks) there are, at least in those markets, three designo. Porcelain and Brown, quilted; AMG black sport designo.
Based on the US configuration for the GLE, it looks like MB-Tex, Leather (assuming grain-leather), Nappa, and Designo. So based on this, my assumption is the GLS will have the same offerings.
The Nappa leather is nice, but I've had my share of "smooth/soft" leather in Range Rovers and it ends up with a lot of unsightly creases after only a few months and takes a lot of extra work to keep looking new. It was tiring chasing it. I also understand that Mercedes is going head-to-head with Range Rover and to do so their coach-work needs to meet theirs in some respects.
I do like the leather grain in my '16 GL550... although not soft to the touch, it feels like it'll last and still look great years to come. I have a six-year-old and welcome the ease of maintenance. We'll shall see how it holds up.

Interesting....
One minor point we criticized other recently facelifted Mercedes-Benz for was the add-on look of the infotainment screen. With the GLS it seems Mercedes-Benz finally heard our prayers and semi-integrated the 7-inch (8-inch optionally available) infotainment screen in the dashboard, which looks much better now.

Sorry guys, as much as I wanted to get into a GL, I ended up getting a GLE. Dealer came close but couldn't quite get down to where I need to be on a truck I actually wanted. However, I will keep an eye out and try to answer any questions on things that the GLE has that will be similar to the GLS. The brown eucalyptus trim as pictured above is what I actually have. The Espresso Brown mb tex is like a chocolate brown with white stitching. That is what I thought I was getting but vehicle arrived with Ginger beige as the main interior color and Espresso Brown dash, carpets, center console, and door handles. I'll try to post a pic in the daylight tomorrow.
