I like the look. The rear on the 500 looks neat and commanding. The 63 is sick.

Looks not bad, but I am good with my 2015 GL550. I really wish they kept the rear bumper like on my 2015.

Thanks for the link. Its a good and informative article. It ends with "Orders commence in December, and the first adopters will receive their SUVs in late March."

Some on this forum predicted the refreshed GLS would go on sale by year-end while others insisted it would be a normal July release cycle. If the above turns out to be true, it validates a number of earlier posts.

Marginally improved interior, slightly different exterior, 63 more clearly differentiated, no captains' chairs. Pretty much as expected.

Car and Driver:

The GLS350d is fitted with a brawny 3.0-liter V-6 turbo-diesel that makes 255 horsepower—15 more than before—and 455 lb-ft of torque. The GLS450 carries over its 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 gasoline engine, rated at 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, so the times when the “450” moniker denoted a value-priced V-8 are well and truly over. The GLS550 and its 4.7-liter twin-turbo V-8 is up by 20 horsepower to a full 449, while the AMG-fettled GLS63—now officially named the Mercedes-AMG GLS63—makes 577 horsepower, 27 more than before.

Somewhat curiously, however, the GLS63 AMG sticks with Mercedes-Benz’s twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V-8, an engine that has been replaced by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 elsewhere. And it keeps the AMG-specific seven-speed automatic, while the three other models are now fitted with a nine-speed automatic. Needless to say, the ultrapowerful and fast AMG version is our favorite, although the other engines are impressive, too, particularly the efficient diesel.

In the update for 2017, Mercedes upgraded the GLS’s adjustable chassis modes. As before, there are Comfort and Sport modes, Individual allows the driver to choose bespoke settings, and Off-Road helps the GLS conquer rough terrain. The AMG model adds a Sport+ setting, while non-AMGs can get the optional Off-Road Engineering package—it adds a low-range transfer case and locking center-differential lock—adds a further Off-Road+ mode. Oh, and if you really want to get specific, there’s also a Slippery setting for when the roads are, well, slippery.

That Nappa Espresso interior with carbon trim is incredible imo.

I would consider an AMG GLS 63 if the fronts seat bottoms didn't have those bolsters. There not comfortable for me or my wife. If they allowed them to be adjusted as can be done with the side bolsters, then it would work for us.

I wonder if the GLS 63 will include the "AMG Dynamic Performance Exhaust" as an option? Then you could tone down the sound when needed.

I also like the new wheels shown on the GLS 550 (500 euro-spec).

And I agree with eliontakis, the Nappa Espresso is very nice.

Has anyone seen any pics of the 450? So far I see the 350, 500 and 63 only, pretty much the same pics everywhere. Does the 450 front end mimic the 350?

You're correct, no official photos of the 450 yet but one would assume it will look like the 350d.

Another new option for this model is Magic Vision Control. It places the wiper-fluid nozzles inside the wiper arm assembly for spray-free windshield cleaning. I like options!

I'm waiting for the time, when AMG package will be available for US customers on GL350/450, but there is no any word about it for 2017. So I assume MB still treat us as a third world country.

This is one reason behind my question about pics of the 450. I like the front and rear end of the GLS550/500 better. I thought perhaps the 450 would look a little different than the 350d.

In other countries (Canada for example) the AMG appearance package can be optioned with any model (at least with the GL). But not the 350/450 here in the USA. I'm sure they have valid marketing data to back up that decision but its still odd to the USA buyer.

Any price information available yet? I'll checked on the German site for the gls500/550. Price was increased by a few thousand euros, which might be related to the dollar exchange rates. The us site still has the GL listed. Thnx

Looks like German version has an option for a HUD. I wonder if USA is going to get that feature. So far, we are being left out.

Am I the only one think the new front grill with "sockets" looks ugly which reminds me the previous generation of ML?

Ugly?

I'm glad the grills are unique. Nicely done MB.

I agree. The same happened with E-Class. I like the old pre-refreshed version with DRLs more than current with "sockets". So you are not alone.
