Do you guys know what the off road package gets you? Dynamic select is standard. So off road gets you the under carriage protection plus a different differential I'm guessing? UK web site says it gives you under body protection only

Increased performance?

I would like to have the look without the added cost and gas consumption.

In the UK for example they sell 350 gas and diesel and the 63. No 450, no 550. Not enough takers for those. So offering the look of the 550 on the 350 won't cannibalize sales of the 450 and 550 there, as it might in the US.

The last thing they want to do here is give the 550 and 63 buyers a reason to reconsider their purchase and opt instead for a 350. Nowhere are buyers more willing to pay a premium for exclusivity than in the US and they want to preserve that.

I'd like to see it too. Number one reason I want a 550 not a 350/450 is the appearance, not necessarily the engine and gear.

Yup, 100% correct here. EU is not big on displacement.

Count Laszlo and I share the same sentiments of not liking the new GLS design cues. To me, it was the same feeling when I saw the previous generation C class when I had the 2 generations ago C class and thought it was ugly, but I still do today thinking the previous generation C class looks like crap.

To me, I like the sharper corner edges that 550 and above AMG kit offers. The roundedness of the GLS makes it look weaker and should appeal a bit more better to woman in general sense imho.

However, seeing the damn ordering guide and the updated interior and mechanical offers, my desire of WANTING the GLS has been elevated as the packaged stuff like steering assist, off road package, and so forth adds more value to the vehicle. It isn't something I NEED, but WANT.

Given said that, I saw nothing about the ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM as an option, what happened to that? if it is now a standard, I might just have to overlook the rounded edges and opt for the new GLS in the near future.

I take the back, I see the option now, but it says, ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM GLS550, not standard, or what not just GLS550 on the side. Very weird and very ambiguous on the meaning. It is on Page 31

Y I want that too. So what do you think off road package includes exactly? Description in other markets describes underbody protection but nothing else really

As I read the guide I think there are more then just under body protection, which would including the part deal with Dynamic select which operate the transmission. As I quote from the guide in the page 8 •“Off-road” (in conjunction with 4MATIC) and “Off-road+” (in conjunction with Off-road Engineering package) mode offer the optimal settings for off-road driving for the GLS 550. Also in page 38 it also has some information regarding the off road package which I quote In order to increase off-road capability, this can be raised by up to 2.4 in (by up to 3.5 in when combined with the optional OFFROAD package (430))
Overall, a maximum ground clearance of 10.9 in is therefore possible (12.0 in with the OFFROAD package (430))
And that is my reading of it someone else can correct me if I am mistaking it.

I went in the dealer today to order 2017 GLS350 ( Canada version) the option list is not open yet on their system. I can only order premium package, intelligent drive package, Sports package (AMG styling with 21" wheel ).

Was hoping to see night package like GLE and more option but not yet so far.

What's great about the Canadian market, and I visit there frequently, almost all the MLs have the AMG sport package which makes all versions very nice looking. Wish they would do this in the US, but it goes back to product positioning.

Diamond White for me when I place my order, you have good taste. I'm also getting Active Curve this time around. Have you ever had it in the past?

I have not, personally. But folks in these parts seem to swear by it

I wonder why this wheel isn't available for the GLS550 in the US...

Worse case is you could order them from Europe and sell the ones that come with what you purchase in the US. Or keep the original set as winter wheels.

I haven't seen "Heads Up Display" listed for the GLS in any other market. Where did you see it?

I wish they could bring HUD to US market. Amazingly European market gets these first even though GL was initially designed and engineered to fit the US market (and it's also exclusively made here in Alabama). Is there a lack of interest here?

I wonder why HUD is not listed as an option for the US market? Very odd.
