If you want delivery - with the features you value most - nothing to be "gained" by holding back, really..
GLC's and GLE's - frankly now weeks/months after release - on average nationwide - relatively "tight" - and when dealer inventory on the ground is "tight" - doesn't help the odds of stumbling over what you want....

As for people waiting on price, go into a dealer and negotiate a discount relative to msrp. It's not hard to estimate what the car will cost, with options, plus or minus 4%

Info came from a different model but I believe it is the same.

I believe I will not miss the GL550 with all this goodies... the only thing is I am not sure about the pano roof, this is my 4th GL and no pano on any of the previous ones, I am a little concern about the summer time witch is very hot where I live, I still have a few days to make this change... any advise?

But i will say that there is absolutely no reason to be paying msrp anywhere in this country for this vehicle, particularly if you plan to finance or lease through MB Financial.

What % off are you getting and from what dealer? In particular, are you ordering a GLS350? In our area being first or towards the front for a GLS350 has a price premium currently. In 6 months? A discount but not a huge amount at least not enough for me to wait on ordering. One aspect that I've seen is that GL's with 3.0 liter engines are easier to move due to competition with Chinese gray market exports.
I'm not financing or leasing through MB financial. More than likely Axxlrod has done his due diligence and called around in the SD/ soCal area and may have found difficulty getting a discount currently. Just wanted to give some insight to him and possibly others about the SD market. But, hey, if people are getting more than 2% off on orders all over the place, I'd like to know as well.
