3rd row question

Does anyone know if the 3rd row seats will accommodate car seats? If not, I am in trouble....

I'm pretty sure it does. But you'd have to buckle 'em in still.

3rd row has seat latch system in place and can hold two car seats.

Thanks for the reference. That answered 90% of my questions about car seats. However, one question still remains unanswered. Is the third row able to accommodate a reverse facing infant car seat?

Thanks,

Thanks,
if you duck into the GL forum, there are a few car seat threads you can pose that question in and you'll get an informed response. I can't really opine beyond that given that link i posted, i would guess rear facing infant would be a very difficult if not impossible fit.

i dont know how many shorties you have, but outboard second row may be better for you if you can pull it off. easier to take that infant seat in and out ...

I will try to do a search before posting to further find out the details. I have three kids, one of whom is just a month old. The reason why I want the infant seat in the 3rd row is because the 4 year old and 2 year old kids are dominantly going to use the RES in the 2nd row. Thanks for your input!!

There is a a hold down latch anchor on the back of middle row, but it's gonna be a tough squeeze for a rear facing seat in 3rd row. You have approximately 25-27" clearence from 3rd row seat back to seat back of 2nd row.

You be better off finding 3 car seats you could fit in middle 2nd row.

2nd row can def fit 3 seats and even 2 rear facing and a large booster - no problem
3rd row - can hold 2 car seats as well, large boosters or otherwise - no problem
2 rear facing in 3rd row may be tight but are do-able--- i wouldnt put rear facing in 3rd row unless having someone in the 2nd row who can monitor babies in the back

Reality check: Minivan is what you need. No shame in that, we have 3 kids too, 7,5,2.

point noted but not true- must disagree
nothing against minivans ; no shame at all -- theyr great - but in certain weather conditions and for certain uses and people SUVs make alot more sense- minivans just not safe enough
fitting upto 5 kids in a GL is a non issue
we have 9 in the family and I'm on our 4th now...

That was more intended for the OP who has little, little kids. A minivan would just make more sense being that he's talking about placing a rear facing car seat in the 3rd row lol. Imagine trying to put an infant in that 3rd row on a daily basis.

Speaking form experience, you will not be able to put a rear facing infant seat in the third row. It will not accomodate. You might want to see if the second row will fit three, but it will be tight. You might want to look into the new MB minivan for the next two years and then move into a GL. Good luck

Keep infant outboard second row, 2 yr old middle seat. Leave the "40" split open so that it can fold forward allowing 4 yr old access to his seat in the third row. This set up leaves two seats open (one in third row; one in second row). That allows for a full 7 passengers and optimizes your ability to carry cargo on a consistent basis.

Above all else tho, I think your priority should be easy access to infant unless you really want to work your core and enjoy getting that infant seat in and out of the third row. Plus if youre driving and the infant is going ape sh*t, easier to pull over and open the door behind you to get to baby vs climbing into third row after folding the seat down in the second row. Not to mention you really want your sig other taking an infant seat in and out of that row? Sounds like cruel and unusual punishment to me.

I'm in a very similar boat and am going the route I described. My 2 and 4 yr olds being able to watch Special Agent OSO is being given ZERO priority
