Confirmed Discounts?
I searched and only saw posts guessing what potential discounts could be had but nothing confirmed.
Anyone confirm a discount in California?
I am considering putting in a build config for a GLS550. My dealer says MSRP. If that's what everyone's paying then fine. But I wanted to double check before moving forward. Also anyone with insight into current finance rates for superb credit at MB Financial?

1, don't see any reason to be paying msrp. not with the brand new q7 out, the brand new volvo. competitors aside, it's a refresh. not much has changed
2. leasing/financing rates from MBF dont exist for March from what i understand (no GLS will be sold in US in March). i'm on the lookout for April tho

Just need a confirmed discount so I can get them to match. Otherwise they are claiming they won't have a problem moving these at MSRP to people who want the first of these refreshed ones. Says discount possible if I want to wait til fall. Need to check some other dealers.

Def call around. I can't speak on Cali dealers, as each market is specific.
But I recall some solid discounts coming from Cali 9 months ago when I was considering buying a GL there and shipping to the east coast, where I live.

make your calls, discounts will be possible regardless of demand or interest in the refreshed..
We got a discount with our 13' GL550 - and it was the first at our dealership and the first or second one in the state.. msrp sale not neccessary- work on them.. my local dealer is getting a priority 2 GLS550 in diamond white.. unsold, not ordered, an allcoation they got.. will find out April end or May what they will sell it for..

This is our third GL, I usually get about 4 to 5% discount is what I aim for. This 2017 GLS is also getting the discount, still trying to decide the color combo, I have a build date on June and delivery for end of July which works out perfectly for time frame for us. But I am still waiting for MB Canada to announce base list pricing.

i agree, 4-5% should not be that hard to get.. remember some current GL owners and leasees may hold on to their car and gls hype may not be as significant as when 2nd gen GL came out and people still got discounts..
yea this time around color was a confusing decision for me too.. def knew wanted to stick with porcelain interior, and ended up going with lunar blue exterior..

Agree with the above. My order was originally for MSRP but then decided to go back and renegotiate due to info from this forum. 4% off. Granted, my GLS350 is fully loaded and I was ready to walk, but, overall, pretty happy with that deal.

Try coming up north, I suggest San Francisco Mercedes Benz or Marin (RAB?.). My wife and I purchase our cars from SF MB - always the best experience... it's a superb dealership IMHO and more importantly, family owned.
PS - SF will play hard ball but you can play hard ball back and they'll reciprocate. If you're willing to pay without negotiating they'll be more than happy to take your money; same niave audience here too. But if you're willing to negotiate, are savvy, and a mature professional, they'll be more than willing to do so back, will treat you with respect, and in the end, take your money, and give you a really nice car. ;-)

I've checked with Stevens Creek, Pleasanton, Fremont, and Walnut Creek. I've talked with San Francisco over the phone. Guess I need to try harder.

You could simply wait a bit if a discount is all important. It will be easier later but it's still a new refresh and a new model year. Also, buying a 2017 now has monetary value vs. buying towards the end of the 2017 builds. But, yes, a discount now takes some work.

I buy a car a year and have an agreed upon $5,000 discount. Sometimes it is a good deal (GL63) and sometimes not so much (S Class). Figure it works out in wash and don't need to constantly haggle.

I have a 10 year relationship with my local dealer. He gives me the 'Euro delivery' discount (7%) + any fleet discounts so it saves time negotiating. He is guaranteed to sell 2 cars every 36 months for the next 40 years+ (hopefully!)

Yes, in the Bay Area. Good luck with negotiations - I did have to speak with the GM when the sales mgr balked a bit about the GLS order. At the end of the day I got the discount I was looking for but don't think with the current demand they will be sitting on the lots.
I was fully prepared to walk and settle for 2-5% off somewhere else since at the end of the day its only a few thousand on a $100k+ car. Its more of the principle of never paying anything close to sticker.

Discounts vary greatly by region. In NorCal? Good luck.
In the Midwest, I contacted 4 dealers. Told them 5% or nothing. 3 said ok, one said 3%. This was just overnight with little effort other than emails. If I spent a couple more days looking, could I have gotten 5.5-6.5%?? Possibly??
Went with the 5% with a local dealer who got me a mid June configurable allocation. I thought being a brand new model, that the discount was fair.

We were able to get 10% off our 2016 GL550 in October 2015 whereas every other dealership we were working with laughed in our faces. It took a lot of negotiating and we walked out of the dealership during the first negotiation. But the phone rang the next day and a deal was made. You can work with dealerships but you truly need to separate your emotions from the vehicle you want and be willing to move on if you cannot reach an agreement.
