Possible to order GLS without sunroof?

Does anyone know if it's possible to delete a standard option when ordering? I'm not talking about panoramic, I'm talking about the standard sunroof, I don't want either and would pay extra to have it deleted... is it possible?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I do not believe that is a configurable option. If you do not get panoramic, it defaults to the regular sunroof.

I would tend to agree with Senatov. Hard to imagine how they would accomodate an order that is not in the catalog. I imagine they manufacture all the roof panels either for the standard or for the panoramic sunroof.

What is it you dont like with having a sunroof?

I figured they probably wouldn't do it, but read online that they have in the past deleted standard features, but that was for different models.

As for what I don't like about it:

1. A lot of extra heat comes in through it, even when closed. One car I had that had a full panoramic roof was extremely uncomfortable in sunny south florida weather.
2. Not as good sound insulation as solid roof.
3. Extra hole in the ceiling in case of a crash.
4. I never open my sunroofs anyway.

A gaggle of MB's
All well and good... but US spec GLS has single sunroof as "standard.

Remember you have sliding solid sunroof cover.

1) Sunroof glass is much improved - and on IR and UV you can cut the remaining IR and UV by another 90% with 3M Crystalline "clear" tint film

2) With sliding solid cover NO added noise from sunroof

3) Accidents - there have been no documented cases of additional injury in a MB SUV with sunroof - if you find a report of added injury - please report here

4) You never open it - actually many don't ever open it - but "tilt" for added ventilation - and solid sliding cover has vents so you can have the added ventilation without letting in the sun

Thanks for the tip on that film - that's definitely something I'd want to do. As for noise - I had a chance once to drive two cars that were identical in specs, except one didn't have the sunroof - and the one without it, was quieter.

I would suggest you drive the MB - with sliding solid sunroof cover closed - then open - and I think you will agree no noise
