2017 GLS 550 End of Year Purchase
Just joined this forum and looking for some help/advice. I'm looking to purchase a new 2017 GLS 550 and need to take delivery before year end for tax purposes. I've found about 4-5 vehicles in current inventory in my general area that meet my color election and specs. Most vehicles have similar builds and are priced at $100,385 MSRP. Found one vehicle priced at $110K MSRP because it has Designo Leather and B&O soundsystem, but I'm not willing to pay up for those two extras.
Like everyone, I'm trying to get the best price. I live on Long Island and have reached out to 4-5 different dealers. So far, two dealers have knocked off 5% MSRP without too much trouble based on e-mail exchanges. Two other dealers are pretty slow to the party and will only give me $500 off MSRP for fleet pricing. I don't know invoice price or any other important pricing info to help in negotiations. I think 6% off MSRP is ok, but nothing great as I always thought that year-end was best time for great deals. Might be able to do better with a 2016 model, but prefer a 2017. Any thoughts or advice from experienced MB owners would be greatly appreciated.
Happy holidays to all!

Focus in on "which features" - the "differences" between each you "think" are available - as a friend you don't want to short change your enjoyment/ownership - note B&O, no spare tire...

I was looking to lease.. Not buy. But 5-6% off the MSRP is the general quote I got. I found that MB considers 550 a premium and there are not much wiggle room. Dealerships would rather it sit on the lot...
Might get more aggressive deals on the 450...

So - what your GLS has - or what your GLS doesn't have - you don't care within reason.
Normally -this month is looking to maximize tax advantages in December for SUV - most are looking to purchase/Sec179 $25K added deduction - GLS does qualify.
If you're shopping for lease - makes a good discussion with your accountant if there would be a advantage to you on a "single-payment-lease" - where one stroke - some expense full amount in one stroke.
If you're shopping lease - then you might consider approaching those same dealers about "best lease" - rather than "best car".
