Can anyone comment on GL63 reliability?
Well, I guess that tells me what I needed to know. Suspected about as much.

Can you buy with low annual mileage intention and keep beyond 4yrs... sure..
If you plan to keep "beyond warranty" by miles then you might consider finding the right Mercedes Certified GL/GLS63 because under CPO you have Unlimited Miles out to 5yrs from original owner purchase date - which can be extended for up to additional 2 calendar years - with Unlimited Mileage - at a lower extended warranty cost for CPO warranty than to extend New Car MB Warranty - assuming you get the eight CPO rig with the gear you want.
On "new" build-to-order - smart money could make the case for long-term hold to build a maxed out GLS450 over a GL550... save yourself $13K or so by building GLS450 with same gear you would get in your GLS550 .. most sonsider GL450 better road trip highway comfort - lower maintenance costs - longer tire life - better fuel economy - less dollar/depreciation hit again in dollars..
Whatever floats your boat..
Speaking in general, I've been holding out for the 2018 model, because I want the improved steering assist. Nearly placed an order for the 2017 a few months back but didn't like the sloppy steering assist. Once you fully spec out a 450 it's about 95k, and at that point all 3 GLS become more or less the same price wise. I like the feel of the GLS63, but I'm not sure I want to deal with it falling apart on me later, as I plan to own the next GLS for a while.
