2017 GLS550 Transmission failure
This happened the night of July 3rd, 65 miles away from home. Timing was pretty bad, right before we were heading out with the whole family, the transmission died. MB rep suggested a software reset which didn't work. July 4th being a holiday for dealers, only option I had was to get it towed on 5th morning.
The first tow truck came around 10 AM. The GLS wont go into Neutral! It does momentarily but the second I take my foot off the brakes it goes back to P and engages the electronic brakes. Tried every combination! Towing guy suggested to drag it onto the flat bed to which I disagreed. MB agreed with me on that and dispatched another towing company requesting a wheel lift kind of setup.
The second tow truck showed up around noon without the special equipment requested.... again comes the suggestion of dragging the truck. I said NO!
MB arranged a drive(UBER) back home for my family and my local Mercedes Dealer was kind enough to provide me a loaner though my car wasn't in for service. After I left the scene, my local friend stepped in! Third tow truck arrived with no clue whatsoever! It was 6:30 PM then.
By this time my patience was wearing thin! MB dispatched another vendor but confirmed with them about the equipment needed before the tow truck was heading out. Finally, the 4th tow truck got the job done, it was 11 PM by the time it was dropped off at the service.
I'm disappointed the way it was handled. The MB customer reps felt sorry for me but I'm trying to figure out where the miscommunication happened!
I'll update once I get to know the issue with transmission!

Oh, that's an easy one ! Judging from the 'Uber' transport they got you it is pretty Obvious that everything has to go on the cheap, and no f*ck was given about the customer. When the first tow truck called no go, they just went to the second cheapest on their list.
Incidentally, I wonder what the Uber driver's Insurance is going to day when there's an accident and it turns out he's not insured for commercial passenger transport.
That MB dealer of yours is something else !
