Anyone's guess but if we go by the 6 year cycle of the X165, 2018 would be the final production year for the X166. A brand new 2019 model could conceivably arrive mid to late 2018. Or none of this happens and it comes later. Like I said, anyone's guess but there is ever increasing competition in this segment and MB best stay on top of their game if they want to keep their current GLS customers and attract new customers. With the BMW X7 on the way, the revamped Range Rovers (Velar and Sport), and several other new entries into this segment, the air is getting thin indeed.

X165 2007-2012 (6 years)
X166 2013-2018 (6 years?)
X167 2019-2024 (6 years?)

Based on internet rumors, the GLE will be released in 2018 as a 2019 MY, and the GLS will be released in 2019 as a 2020 MY.

Certainly possible but a 7-year cycle is a long time in the automobile industry, even with a refresh. But what do I know? Just guessing like everyone else at this point.

Many other MB's have 7 year cycle with a face lift around the 4th year, so it's not that odd to see the GL/GLS get a 7 year life cycle.
The W166 ML/GLE went on sale as MY 2012, and currently is on its 7th year as the MY 2018 GLE. Rumor is the replacement is coming out next year as MY 2019. So that's a 7 year run as well.
I don't think they will release a new GLE and GLS in the same year, so the GLS is likely to be released in 2019 as a MY 2020 as many rumors have suggested.

I didn't say it was odd, I said it would be a long time and potentially cost MB some customers. The luxury SUV market is becoming one of the hottest markets going and there are some alluring new entries.
