GLS 550 In its element
#6
Love Wisco. Went to Madison. Go Badgers! Car must be a blast to drive out there in the winter.
Ride looks good. I also have the wood trim, it's the only way to go. What are those wheels? OEM 19s? Does the 550 have same brake size as AMG?

The wheels are the 20 inch MB winter set. The ride in comfort mode is extraordinarily smooth, in sport it gets a little jiggly if the road is rough. I cant compare it to the 21's since they will be in storage till May. Can't wait till then to give a good romp. Someone, had predicted the 20 inch set would make the car look "stilted" in fact they look perfectly fine since the offset is greater than the 21 rims. The combo also offers fantastic snow and ice performance, feels like a tank regardless of road conditions. I bet slippery mode is most useful with the v8 engines so as to tame the moster torque effectively. Going up a 30 degree slope covered with 4 inches of fresh powder, slippery mode matches the traction control and engine power precisely to make going up idiot proof. DSR make the opposite maneuver just as simple. Comfort for seven, superbly powerful, great ride and capable handling that never feels like a "truck". The other thing I cant wait for is towing our 24 foot Whaler. Im betting this thing tows signifantly better than my old ecoboost f150 given that it has significantly more torque (+20%) and much better brakes.

You won't notice any difference with the 21". It will ride just as good, actually probably better, since you won't have winter tires on it. I've had 20", 22" 24", I've had just about every combo. The air suspension is what always makes it ride incredible.
