Rear-end Crash Question

First of all, hats off to fabbrisd1 for his wise recommendation of buying the factory-installed trailer hitch for additional rear-end protection. I would have ordered it anyway since we use a bike rack, but I can attest to the idea that the hitch keeps damage to a minimum if rear-ended.

Earlier today I was rear-ended at a stoplight. The Chevy Express van that hit me looked pretty bad in front, but my damage seems to be contained to the bumper. I can't tell if the fenders or hatch have any damage, so I will leave it to the professionals to confirm.

One of the exhaust pipe finishers broke off in the crash. Do I have any concerns about the heat of the exhaust against the plastic bumper? There is nothing to reattach the screws to. It might be possible to use duct tape to hold the finisher in place, but I'm not sure about the wisdom or likelihood of that. Any thoughts?
