That would be a neat trick since the X167 hasn't been released yet. If you look at the very first post in this thread, Fab attached the DOG (Dealer Order Guide) for the 2019 GLS. You'll see for yourself it's NOT the new X167 but the current X166. Sorry but your dealer is misinformed. If you don't believe me, ask him for pictures of the X167. We'd all love to see them.

We should know more about the 2020 X167 later this year.

The 2019 GLS is the same as the 2018. Mercedes didn't change their mind about anything, the GLS is on the normal production schedule. The GLE is the outlier going 8 years.

There is no way for anyone here to know any of this. All of this was nothing but pure speculation . Now the GLE is going 8 model years, no one saw that coming.

Your only embarrassing yourself and coming off like a cyber-bully. I'll post what I hear regardless of your posts. Others on this forum can judge for themselves who is spreading fake news.

Cyber bully? Embarrassing? Oh please man, I was just questioning why people post things that are totally unfounded and then others run with it. It's hilarious. Not sure what you're so defensive about it, unless you now feel silly for posting it.

Great looking wheels on this tester. Remind me of the chariot wheels in Ben-Hur.

Several other sites have reported the final production GLS Maybach should make its debut at the LA Auto Show in November 2018. If that happens, the 2020 GLS X167 would logically have to debut at the same show or an earlier show.

new render on autoweek.com

not a ton of new info, but they do say there will be more legroom in the second and/or third row: "the GLS-Class will feature a reworked rear passenger compartment that will buy the rear-seat passengers more legroom, as well as power-reclining seats"

it’s 2020 after all boys

So dealer tells me the x167 will in fact be a 2020 release and Mercedes will sell the 2019 x166 with current shell
if we want the new shell the x167 probably will see the first ones mid 2019 as a 2020 model
as a great aside I did get to officially order the 2019 G63 while there today and that’s definitely the new shell after 40 years of the old one buuuuuuuuyyaaaaa baby

It will be intersting to see how they keep the weight in check given that the vehicle will be bigger than present. The weight differential might be less than expected given the dimensional growth. The rear seat increase will be welcome regardless, since at present the rear legroom is ok, its far from "luxurious". They also should make the second row able to move fore and aft. I love our 550 but it could definitely use a an update to the new E class tech so as to maintain it edge.

5-8% weight reduction seems plausible. Both Ram and GM just did this with their new 2019 half-ton pickups. They are larger than previous yet reduced weight 225-450lbs.

Weight reduction can be achieved in a number of places. Exterior body panels is a start. Not sure of the weight of the new engines but that's a possibility. Ditch the spare tire for run-flats as well as lighter forged wheels. The headers, cats, exhaust piping, and mufflers are heavy items as well.

The overall interior is not years ahead of the GLS...parts of the Q7 interior are a bit flimsy and the leather is not the best unless you go with the Luxury Package.

If you do go with a Q7 I would highly recommend the Air Suspension package...it comes with a pretty amazing 4 wheel steer system. If you ever find a dealer that has one (they are hard to find) say you want to test drive it...it turns super tight circles (but feels a bit disconcerting at first), turns are impressive and lane changes seem much easier.
The Q7 is very nice and drives well. However, the third row seats are a joke and its on the slow side of the spectrum. It also has zero offroad capability outside of a well maintained gravel road. Its true competion is the GLE.

I agree the Q7 rear seats are not great, but the 2nd generation of Q7 has larger rear seats and the Q7 Supercharged 6 destroys a standard GLE and is nearly as performant as a GLE43. If you want to see joke 3rd row try out an X5.

Agree about the BMW X5 3rd row and it is a $2000 option!

3rd row on the X5 comes bundled with rear air suspension and sliding/ adjustable 2nd row seats so that's where the cost is.
