I have a 2017 GLS 450 and am trying to make the Sport setting for everything permanent and I have made Sport selections in the menu system. Nevertheless, every time I shut down the car and restart it, it returns to the Comfort mode. I can then turn the knob on the center console and put it in Sport mode but would like it to stay there even if I shut down the vehicle and restart it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is no way, it always defaults to comfort. Unfortunately its also true of all modern mercedes vehicles.

You get used to it...just one click to the left, or set up "I" individual, so you just flick it to the left. I actually don't like the engine mode in sport as it holds gears too long and cuts out the top gears. I set up 'I' with sport engine but comfort suspension.

I hear you, my individual is steering and suspension sport, engine normal. On sport mode you waste fuel and its too "eager". The 550 is more than fast enough in comfort mode.
