Anyone hardwire a dash cam?

Has anyone hardwired a dash cam in the GLS yet? Did you use the fusebox on the front passenger side of the vehicle or the fusebox under the rear seats? Which fuses did you attach it to?

I tried to hardwire my dashcam into the fuse box in the passenger side but every fuse i tried I couldn't get power to draw to my camera.
It was frustrating; because I was able to do it flawlessly in my vw jetta gli...

What I ended up doing was just getting a roav dashcam which had the battery built in and using the DC outlet in the passenger footwear and routing the cable up and through the dashboard and passenger headlining.

Cheers

I’ve read somewhere on this forum of people hardwiring it into the fuse box under the backseats. I was wondering what items they used and how difficult it was.

I did the same thing with my R-350. I ran the wire to the lighter hiding the wire the edge of the windshield and above the glovebox. I used Roav trim removal tool to hide the wire.

I hardwired mine under the rear right passenger seat fuse box. It was quite easy and took only a few minutes. I installed mine in my ml350, but I imagine that the process would be nearly identical in the GLS.

I ended up using the fuse labeled "Power Outlet 2nd seat line". In the ml350 its Fuse 151.

Hard Wire connection tapped to Fuse 151. A BlackVue PowerMagic Pro should be able to be hardwired similarly.

BlackVue b-124 placed above the access panel for the rear fusebox.

Any luck? I'm curious what I should have done differently when I tried to hardwire a dash cam

Good luck. Don't be afraid. It's relatively easy. Take your time :-)

That's what I thought until the check engine light came on just from tapping the fuse.
The GLS is 5 years newer than the ML and they must have changed something because I had no issues installing a backup camera in my 2014ML.

Did anyone successfully find a fuse that works and don't have to go all the way to the 2nd row seat?

I was wondering if there is a line with power in the overhead console? Maybe tie it into one of the switches, it can't draw too mush power.
