Exclamation Auto start on GLS550

Can you permanently turn off the auto start? Or does it have to be turn off every time you start the car?
its a pain in the neck only!! And it doesn’t save any gas.

There's a guy on ebay that sells a module that can turn off the auto stop. There are some other features it can turn on/off as well for an additional price.

i believe mid city engineering has a solution that works well for people.

ahh, this brings back fond memories of a thread dating a couple years back. in it, a combative macan driver, a man who defines himself and others by the vehicle they drive, the money they make, and whether or not their spouse works, came through these parts hurling insults left and right while doing due diligence on this topic.

he's no longer active here, but you have 30 chances a day in perpetuity to read a post of his in a porsche forum.

Actually the way better solution is the OBD programmer module from Vladimir in Belarus - reporgrams ECO - "so if I choose ECO off then when I restart MB next time ECO is off" ... and "if I Choose ECO on the time I start the MB its ECO"..... like $120 on eBay ... module one time plug in to OBD port.. follow the instructions

Correct ECO module install instructions attached

The eBay link posted above is the correct module - Vladimir has US patner that has stock - make sure you email them your VIN# to assure the correct OBD module for your rig.

However - their install/reprogramming instructions online are a bit unclear - so I have attached the CORRECT install instructions. Engine off - in Position 2 (and the my/correct instructions tell you how to get to Position 2) - you insert the module into the OBD port - it does it's thing - and once done you pull the module out.

After programming is done keep the module in the trunk - in the very/very unlikely event you ever need to restore ECO programming to MB original (which frankly no one will ever need to do).

Once you use the module - that module is "paired" to that MB car only - no, you cannot use it to re-program another MB.

Frankly - it's the SMART way to have ECO programmed - the ECO when you restart the car is determine by ECO is On or Off when you last stopped the car - now that makes sense !

I found the auto start on this vehicle to be more refined than other automakers’ but it’s still a pain in the a$$ for me. Why do I need to turn it off multiple times in the same drive, fab? Am I missing a setting or something?

If you change profiles during the drive to Comfort, Sport, or Eco - then it reactivates in that profile - frankly it's worth the $120/whatever to get the Vladimir module - his programming is quite sensible - "last setting" programming makes a whole lot of sense - if last setting when your turn your MB off is Eco-Off - then when your turn the MB back on ECO is Off in every profile - until you choose to turn ECO back on - a whole lot of sense to me

ahhhh yes definitely me switching modes while driving (sport to comfort, for example) that is causing It to revert back mid drive

The OBD plug from ebay Vladimir works perfect. I have it on my 2018 GLS.

Module solves all the hair-pulling-irritation - Vladimir is a solid thinker and righteous programmer -

I dont mind the GLS eco mode, its essentially transparent. Few things I would improve; sometimes its too aggressive, which can be annoying in stop and go traffic, second, it turns off the power steering which can be disconcerting at first.

Having to turn off the auto start every time I get in the car was annoying but that the engine turned off when I switched from eco to sport mode just as I want to take off, that was really annoying. I got my module from Vladimir today and so far it seems to work, I haven't driven the car yet.
Can't believe I paid a Russian to hack my car ;-)

The Belarus module to me is more effective than the Mid-City solution from the Ukranian's from Near North Chicago - they are good guys though - just on Eco Start this OBD module is effective

I was kidding about the Russian hack, I saw that it came from Belarus!
