2018 GLS 63 VS 2018 s63

Hi Everyone,

i currently have a black 2018 S63 sedan with nut brown interior. I love the car, have every option except for the ceramic brakes. Unfortunately, driving a sedan just isn’t that practical and the trunk is pretty small. I also enjoy being higher above the ground but love the luxury of the car. I’m debating on trading it in for a 2018 GLS 63, and was wondering what you guys think of it.

have you looked at the e63 wagon?

I have driven the gl63 multiple times...and it's very much a different animal. The trans can be clunky at low speeds and if your are used to the s class, the interior of the gl will be similar to last generations c class.

The e class meanwhile will have all the same luxury interior as your s plus the space

2016 E63s Wagon
I've not actually driven a GLS63 - but we have owned a 2016 E63s Wagon and currently a GLS550. The wagon is a great car, only surpassed by the latest iteration 2018 & up. Agree very practical and a complete monster, as you know from your S63. RE: the GLS - the level of 'luxury' would be less than the S class IMO. We also have a GLS550 and while it has a lot of the creature comfort stuff, lighting bells and whistles, massaging seats, blah blah blah at the end of the day it's an SUV. Huge AMG fan here and will be back in one at some point but we couldn't justify the extra cost in a big SUV - doesn't make a whole lot of sense. You might look at the GLC - it is getting rave reviews and to me looks like a justified application of AMG tech - and expense. Higher, more room - but still AMG capabilities. If I didn't need the space and legit 3rd row I'd look really hard at the GLC. hope this helps

I agree. The gls 63 is a great car but it along with the gle 63 both have last gens interior.
But im sure you could get a great deal on the gle with it being the last model year before the new model comes.

The glc 63 is the only true amg...and With the revised new gen interior but I’m not convinced about the appeal of the front grill.

I think the e63 might be the best choice considering. And it’s gorgeous!

Btw. If you get a tune in your 550 you can beat or match the 63 in terms of performance figures.

2018 S63 Sedan, 2018 GLS 63
Thanks for the input. The e wagon is very nice , but I like being elevated so that I have to cross off and the glc is a bit to slow. I would get a 2018 gls63 that has 6000k miles on it. The guys traded it for a GLE coupe. That’s the problem, it’s the last gen interior that drives me nuts. I love the car, it just feels old now compared to everything else especially the s class and the new GLE coming out. Unfortunately, the offer on the gls wont stand much longer so I am under a time crunch. To bad the new one isn’t coming out now

2016 E63s Wagon
Delta you sound like an S-class person all the way (mean that in a GOOD way!) - you will very likely be disappointed with the GLS level of 'luxury'. It's just not there. Our E63s wagon was a designo and it was head and shoulders 'nicer' than the GLS550.

What about a G? Those are pretty awesome . Or hold out for the 2020. I'll take a hard look at that one when my lease is up but I may go beater land cruiser or sequoia and get a proper sports coupe, 2 for 1. Good luck!
