2017 or 2018 GLS450 common issues

Hi, I have a 2012 GL450 with 80k+ miles and it has been a great car. I am thinking if I should trade up to a 2017 or 2018 GLS. The new 2019 or 2020 GLS is too expensive and depreciate about 13k each of the first 3 years it seems. Could some one share how are their experience with the 2017 or 2018 GLS450? Still suspension or pump issue? I heard great things on the bi-turbo engine.

My 2012 have lots of suspension issues. I bought it CPO at 25k and have been taken great care with on schedule maintenance, new tires, etc. But it seems the first owner might not have taken care of it. The suspension seems to go every 45k+ miles. 3 structs replaced under warranty and probably will fail again within next year or so given my milage. I just spent $4k+ on new pinion, suspension pump, steering pump.

For a 2 year old GLS, same price point, I was thinking of getting XC90 but its dependability isn't that great either; Subaru Ascent seems even worse. It seems the only SUV with large enough 3rd row for adult children is the GL/GLS.

Please advise. Thank you!

I have a CPO 2017 GLS 450 with 31.000 plus miles.
It's been fantastic so far .
The only issue I noticed is excessive air in tires .
Over 40 psi, it gave such a bad ride .
I lowered the air pressure to 32 psi all around .
That's what the sticker called for .
Located on fuel door.
I have the appearance package that uses the 20 inch wheels .
The 3.0 v6 bi turbo motor is fantastic.
Just with a tune you can easily go up in the mid 400 hp .
In the same boat needed a suv but was not willing to take such a huge loss in depreciation the first 2 years in a new suv.
Just get the extended warranty with purchase.
Just in case something major goes wrong.
Love the truck.
Get one that's fully loaded .
Got very lucky that I was able get one with even leather interior that in it self is a miracle.
Good luck .

Agreed 32lbs is right for the tires as is with my 2018. Love the SUV no issues and its a gem driving long distances...

Saw your post re: Ascent issues-Are they having problems? I'm looking at either '17 gls450 or Ascent. Currently have/had '13 GLK 350 until daughter took it! I bought it 2 yrs old with 55k miles, usually don't buy extended W, but did. transmission went bad within a month ($8k). I had researched the issue, too. Thanks.

I haven't bought Ascent but read might be issues with transmission. It is a good car but I don't think it is comparable with GLS for sure after test driving Ascent again yesterday.
