2019 GLS VS 2020 GLS
Hi there,
I am debating between 2019 and 2020 one. I found the third row seats in 2020 were not comfortable. We were looking at both 2020 and 2019 at the dealership during the weekend. Though I like the option of second row with 2 captain seats in 2020 GLS. Does anyone have the 2020 GLS and find the third row seats comfortable? Do you find the captain seat moving forward too slow? That is my concern for dropping off the kids in the morning at school.
TIA!

Can't personally give you an opinion as I have a 2018. If you go to the 2020 GLS forum you will find a thread where owners of the 2020 talk about the third row as well as the benefits/cons of having the second row as a bench or captains chairs. Lots of responses from owners with children.
Regarding the reported slowness of the second row seat moving forward, it seems the captains chair choice would solve that in the 2020.
Personally I am wowed by the tech in the 2020 and look forward to owning one in a few years. Having said that I do love my 2018.
Good luck and Happy New Year!

Thank you. I just posted the thread in the GL167 as well. Would new Tech and other changes in 2020GLS justify $10K more? The 2019 new GLS at the local dealership with similar upgrading options costs less. The test drive in both seems to be the same.

The new GLS is not the best design for MB. Looks like I will be keeping my 166 for some time. No, not worth the premium. New body with new electronics equals more problems. Wait until later in the build cycle if you like the design and want something more reliable.

Feels a little like the 167 is starting life similar to the 164. Hope M-B improves on the 167 facelift.

2020 no question. I have a 2018 and love it but the 2020 is an improvement in every dimension, I drove one and found it to be spectacular. My only caveat would be first year reliability given the amount of new equipment. However the new tech (command) is only new to the GLS its been around since my 2017 E class and its been very reliable to date. The only thing that's totally new is the electronic suspension.
I would only buy a 2019 if the deal was very very good.
