2019 GLS450- feedback, extended warranty, maintenance plans?
Hi everyone,
Im new to this forum as well as new to the Mercedes family. Or hopefully soon to be new. I am currently looking to finance a 2019 GLS450. I have an 8 year old Lexus RX350 and I am looking to upgrade to a larger truck and absolutely fell in love with this beast of an SUV. I have read and heard there seem to be alot of electrical issues with Mercedes vehicles but am not sure how much truth that holds. If anyone can provide me with any feedback that would be wonderful. And if anyone has an info regarding extended warranties or maintenance plans through the dealerships that is also greatly appreciated. Would most likely purchase an extended warranty but wanted opinions on both.

We have always purchased used Benz's with some remaining warranty, and then decided to self-insure. We look for vehicles that have good service history with a dealer. We keep up with the recommended maintenance. Our B-class (fully electric) needed a new drive unit at 47K. Lucky us got a new powertrain under warranty (a Tesla failure, not MB). Our plan for the B-class is to drive it until it the repair bill isn't worth it. We've had minimal issues with MB Diesels(owned 3), and just purchased our first gas MB last evening (GLS500). I have 11K of warranty on the GLS, so we'll decide whether to purchase the extended warranty depending on our experience with the vehicle. Our GLE has been out of warranty for a year without issues, and our E-class E350 BlueTec was fine for 3 years after the warranty expired. We have a running joke of "knocking on wood". Good luck!
