Advice on First Time Order

Advice on First Time Order
Hi everyone, we're looking into ordering a GLS450 even though it seems the wait is going to be longer than when we first started looking. What advice do you all have about getting started? Should I make an appointment to meet with someone at the dealership and set up a test drive? Do you tell them right away that you want to order? Thanks in advance.

For what its worth,,, I ordered my 2018 GLS. I had a great experience. Personally I would suggest up front you are looking to order. They should be able to sit with you and go thru the list of options the car has in the ordering system. They should explain the features as well and as you may already have an idea of what you want as well.
I would test drive as well if you have not done so to use all the features as possible you would want in the car. BTW they can also tell you the price of each feature as you pick them and review them. My dealer placed me in a conf room with a screen to see all the features in the lists.
Oh and BTW first and foremost feature you should get is the upgraded head light package. LOL
There are some others that to me are a must... LOL

I've configured 4 cars to order. I always just used the website to build the thing, then send it to the nearest dealer.....then pit a couple of dealers against each other and go where the better price is. Salesmen are salesmen.......get what you want and don't be afraid to haggle.

Mike, thanks for your advice. I have saved my build on the MB website but don't remember seeing a headlight package upgrade? I'll go look now. Also interested in hearing what your other must have additions are if you don't mind sharing. Thanks!

Thanks Hyperion. I was wondering about the negotiating. We have a few dealerships near us. I was going to make an appointment for this weekend at the bigger one. I've read on some local forums that they wouldn't negotiate so I appreciate hearing your advice to send my build to a few different dealerships. This car is a long time coming so I definitely want to get exactly what I've been waiting for!

You will find added upgrade options in their system than on the website... I have picked several items that were NOT on the website as options. Pls do your self a favir and have them go thru the list with you... They add as you go thru then they can print the pick sheet for you..
