Side Steps / Running Boards

Hey again.

Do you find the side steps are on the small side to be really functional? There isn’t a great deal of room to take the first step on the board and then get in the car, more-so an issue when getting out due to the angle of your leg when you exit the vehicle.

does that bother anyone else

Are wider steps available from MB?

@Golfather I am aware of only one type/style/size of OEM factory running boards. They are slender. However I use them succesfully to step up and load a bike on the roof mounted rack system. Also I use the running board as a step up to the top of the rear tire, when I wash the roof on wash day.

I generally don't have an issue with them, but my other half and her elderly parents do as they find them easy to miss when they disembark.
Just wondered if there is a wider option from MB or other.

They bother me coming and going. IF I had ordered a new GLS, I would not have them on the car. I did not have them on my '14 ML and the cars look better also. Much better without them.

Traded a E450 wagon with 16.5 K for a 17 GLS with 37K. E Wagon was/is a great cross country car and city car. Traveled up to 550 miles on a 21.1 gal tank doing a constant 75 and mostly 80 mph from Tx to Ca. Just not quite enough room in the back of the wagon plus no factory trailer hitch to put a 'basket'.

Wagon does look better than a GLS but......different types of vehicles to start with. I'd recommend a 2020 Wagon in a heart beat.

They bother me as well, constantly getting my pants dirty. Only really mattered when I was wearing dress pants, not jeans. Covid and working from has made my business casual extremely casual! I haven't thought of it for a while since business meetings are non-existent face-to-face. No clue on any other options which are available, I guess it didn't bother me enough to think of changing it.
