2017 GLS450 Bluetooth - No Bluetooth Audio Device Connected

Hello, I have 2017 GLS 450 that has an iPhone paired to it and the bluetooth phone works fine, but when I get in the car (with my iTunes app running on my iPhone) I get a readout on my screen that says
"No Bluetooth Audio Device Connected - Connect Last Used Player"

With a couple button pushes, it starts playing music but I was expecting something that was more seemless.

Any ideas?
