Need Purchase Advice

Looking at GLS 550 2017 or 2018; found a 2017 out of factory warranty based on time (expired in Oct) only 16000 miles. My question is in buying a used car is time or mileage more important? Even a CPO with extended warranty only gives me 3 years of protection on this unit; the miles keep telling me this may be good to go with as opposed to another unit with 33k miles and factory warranty until July 2021. This board is always very helpful Thank you!

Three years or so is not a long time in my opinion, for items that fail based on time. This means primarily rubber and plastic parts, primarily under the hood. For example hoses and gaskets. I think you are safe in that sense.

My opinion is that 2017-2019 GLEs and GLSs are great buys now. Proven reliability, still some factory warranty remaining and great vehicles.

Get the CPO or one that you can add ELW. I've traditionally had more issues early with MB's than later so low mileage without a warranty is not very appealing to me.

I agree with @BlownV8 my experience as well. I've purchased 4 Mercs around 2years old each, some remaining factory warranty, never purchased an extended warranty. No serious issues.
