another tire size question

I am planning on getting a set of winter tires for the GLS450 and I was told I have the following options by the tire store. Stock wheels on the GLS are 295/40r21. I will be using rim which has a spec of 20" diam 8.5" width and 45mm offset. Tire choices:

1. 275/50r20 - off by +1.7% limited tire brands and a little expensive.
2. 265/50r20 - off by +0.3% from stock 21" wheel/tire combo
3. 255/55r20 - off by +2.3% from stock 21" wheel/tire combo. Skinny which is better for snow and opens a tons of tire brands and should I say cheap.

I am leaning towards the 255s and it would be perfect for the 8.5" rim. If I compare the 255 setup to a OEM 20" tires of MB which is 275/50 it will only be off by +0.6% so I think it will be the best setup. What do you guys think?
