Engine or Transmission mount Change

Good morning,

I have a 2017 GLS 550 with 92K miles and there is a pulsing vibration when in park. I also feel a harsher start. The RPMs do not move, and I can't notice a difference Do you guys think I need to get the engine mount or transmission mount checked out?

Could be. How objectionable is it? Engine mounts are a tough job. Trans mount much easier.

Besides idle are there any symptoms?

Thanks for the quick reply. Its not bad at all, and my wife can't even tell there is a slight pulsing. The idle looks great, no excess engine movement when starting or giving it gas. I maybe just overthinking it. I have another 8k until warranty is done, and if it's something bigger I want it to get covered. ( I know mounts are not covered). Is there a way I can look at the transmission mount without taking anything off? Thank you for the help.

Either put the vehicle on a lift or crawl under it and take a look. I think there are no belly pans under the transmission mount, but not 100% sure. Bring a prybar with you to see how easy, or not, it is to move the transmission on the mount. Look for tears or cracks in the rubber. If it's not knocking or banging, the trans mount is probably fine. Idle vibrations might indicate engine mounts on their way out.

UPDATE:

The dealership just called and said the right motor mount was out. They are replacing both motor and transmission mounts under warranty. Thanks everyone for helping.

Good to hear of the solution. What tipped you off? The idle vibration or were there also other symptoms?

Jt0230 - glad to hear the Dealership did well by you ... I've received great service from mine as well.

Chassis,

The idle vibration was the only symptom I had. The RPM was not moving, the engine did not have excessive movement when engaging the acceleration pedal, and there were no other visible indication. My wife who daily's the vehicle did not feel the vibration either. I think it was just dumb luck I was able to feel the vehicle was off. Also the air suspension went out and they are repairing that under warranty too. I am going to be worried when I am out of warranty.
