CPO 2018 GLS

Just wanted to say thanks for the responses to my question on the ECO feature in that thread. I had suspected something wasn't right with that vehicle and I now think it went beyond just the ECO feature, Drove a different GLS today and it was immediately apparent that this one is head and shoulders above that one. So we are now the owners of a 'new to us' 2018 GLS with pretty much every package I could have wanted: Premium package, Lighting package, Appearance package, Active curve system (YAY!), 3-zone climate control, Parking Assist, Driver Assistance, heated and ventilated front seats, heated/cooled cupholders (ok, why not), and soft-close doors. And, yes, the ECO feature works as I expected. All of this and CPO and I am extremely pleased (now if the wife would just let me drive it...)

Congrats ! We picked up our '18GLS in 10/2017 and it has been nearly flawless with 45k on the clock. Enjoy !

Unfortunately the 18 y.o. driver that pulled out in front of my wife this morning means that she no longer looks like this. For a brief moment I thought, between my wife's evasive move and the active brake assist, we might clear the back end of the other car, but no such luck. The car protected us perfectly, but is the worse for the wear. Have an appointment at a Mercedes certified collision center next week, but will most likely be February before we get her back (even the dealer called the collision center to see what they could do to speed things up). At least I got to drive it once Sunday (and it was fantastic).

Ouch, very, very sorry to hear ... as I mentioned, we picked up new in Oct 2017 and with ~ 45k on the clock, we've had the left front airmactic strut replaced under warranty - even got ~ 30k out of the original tires - but put Continental Cross Contacts on and the ride is noticeably better
Good Luck, glad that no one is hurt Steve

Thanks. Dealer actually put 4 new Pirellis on and I was very pleased with how they rode. Today may have taken some miles off of them and the brake pads!

Yep, picked it up Saturday. Wife has never had an accident prior to this - and we even lived outside Cinci for a couple years and saw some "interesting" driving on 75 and 71!

You better brush up on your race car driving before you jump on 75! It certainly hasn't gotten better.

What a major bummer. Glad everyone is ok, but still a lousy thing to happen to your awesome Mercedes. Hope the 18 year old's insurance pays for you to get a cool rental and that your body shop gets your car back to you soon and in perfect shape.

Got the preliminary estimate today and it is $16k. I suspect that means they'll total it, but we'll see. Wife is absolutely distraught.

Hope you have a good insurance company. If not, they will fix since it will be way cheaper than totaling.

My 18 GLS450 had over $20k in damages last year due to a drunk driver rear ending me and it wasn’t totalled. Was bummed out. Ended up trading it in earlier this year taking advantage of higher used car values and ended up getting a new X7 instead.

Choose an MB authorized repair facility that is really good. Your only shot is that the repair facility tells the insurance company that it's not fixable due to all the electronics and or unibody damage. Our MB was 1.5 hrs old when it was rear ended and totaled. Didn't look too bad on the outside but the repair facility said they could not guarantee the repairs.

MB certified collision center. i really would rather have it fixed if possible. I've been looking since September and this one ticked all the boxes.

I had teens-thousands of dollars in damage on a less expensive vehicle 6 years ago (deer collision) and insurance repaired, did not total.

Hope to post an update soon. I'll be singing the praises of the MB certified collision center no matter the outcome.

Here she is "undressed" as the reassembly continues.

Picked her up this morning ahead of the snow and ice storm headed our way. While I hope no one would need their services I can absolutely say that Rick and his team at Relentless Collision in Raleigh were truly outstanding. Rick was professional and courteous from the beginning and kept us informed throughout the process. His team put her back to a condition at least as good, if not better, than when we got her.

Know your excited to have your ride back. Hopefully this was just a small initial hiccup and you can enjoy many miles trouble free. As you said, it may have been put back together better than new. Love the way my GLS drives but I’m unimpressed with the build quality and fit/finish coming out of that Alabama factory.
