I took the car back to Mercedes really not expecting much other than wasting my time, but to my utter shock and surprise, they have ordered new parts and are going to be fixing the freon leak and replacing the rear main seal all free of charge. Hopefully it'll be good to go now? We'll see. I have an appointment to bring it back in on the 25th and it'll be there 2-3 days.

my $.02 - Just took my 2018 GLS for service- and had them check the air which wasn't too cool. They checked the coolant and it was a little low although they couldn't find any leaks! They said this is common with these, but who knows. I paid to have them top it off

Got the car back from Mercedes. They did end up replacing the rear evaporator lines again, this time because the leak was coming from the other end of the lines compared to when they replaced them last year. Hoping this fixes the a/c leak issue. They also noticed the same oil leak the car had a year ago that was diagnosed last year as a leaking lower oil pan gasket, but the leak was still there. They originally thought it was the rear main seal, but after dropping the transmission as part of replacing the a/c lines, the rear main seal was completely dry. So they did some investigating and found it was coming from a leaking driver's side valve cover gasket. They replaced both, free of charge.

Very happy with how they handled things this time!

An A/C evac and recharge is not a maintenance item.The system is sealed. If the refrigerant level is low or not at spec. capacity, there is a leak somewhere.

2017 GLS, have had the AC worked on three times now. First time stopped blowing cold air and they traced it to a faulty AC amp controller. Second time required evac and recharge. Third time my regular mechanic noticed radiator coolant leak and while having my radiator replaced under warranty (thank you CPO extended warranty!) they also did an evac and recharge and it was nice and cold again. No leaks ever detected. I just think these systems need frequent recharge.

Unfortunately we think the a/c is malfunctioning again in our car. It's "winter" here in Arizona and so we haven't had to use it very much, but when we have, it's doing the same thing again where it takes 10-15 minutes to start to get cold. I'm willing to bet money that it's very low on refrigerant once again. It's frustrating enough at this point to where we're strongly considering just selling it to get something else.
