How to remove this dashboard switch panel on GLS550?
Hi, is it possible to remove the headlight switch and the surrounding black plastic from the front of the dash? Do you just need to pry around the side with a plastic trim removal tool?
I'm looking to drill a hole to the right of the headlight switch to add a small Redarc trailer brake knob.

I am not sure but I would worry about breaking the plastic surround or damaging the edge of the switch trying to force the tool under it. Also without knowing, how do you figure out where to start or where the tabs are underneath. I think it would be best to figure out how to drop the whole panel so you can see the back side to figure out how to remove the switch if you need to. Also you will able to see what is behind there that may be in the way of your install. GL
Figured this out. Thanks for advising against going in with a pry tool. It turns out if you turn the headlight knob all the way left, then press the knob in, and turn it clockwise to the first stop (which is as much as it will go), it retracts the 3 clips holding the switch assembly in, and the entire thing can be pulled out!
